Repost Protection

Prevent duplicate content from being posted to the same subreddit within configurable time intervals.

Repost protection prevents you from accidentally posting the same content to the same subreddit within a configurable time period. This helps you avoid duplicate posts that can hurt engagement or trigger Reddit's spam filters.

How It Works

When repost protection is enabled, Postpone checks whether the same content (or very similar content) has already been posted to the same subreddit within the protection window. If a match is found, Postpone warns you before scheduling.

For example, if you set repost protection to 3 months, Postpone will flag any attempt to post the same content to a subreddit if it was already posted there within the last 90 days.

Configuring Repost Protection

  1. Navigate to Settings > Post Settings and select your Reddit account.
  2. Find the Repost Protection section.
  3. Set the time interval (e.g., 30 days, 3 months, 6 months).
  4. Save your settings.

The protection interval defines the minimum time that must pass before the same content can be posted again to the same subreddit.

Repost Protection vs. Auto-Repost

These are two distinct features:

  • Repost protection is a safeguard that prevents duplicate content from being posted too frequently. It warns you when you're about to post something that was recently posted to the same subreddit.
  • Auto-repost is a feature that intentionally reposts (reshares) your published content after a set delay to boost visibility on platforms like X/Twitter, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon.

Use Cases

  • Avoid spam filters — Posting the same link or content to a subreddit too frequently can trigger Reddit's spam filters or result in moderator action. Repost protection helps you space out similar content.
  • Content recycling — If you regularly reuse evergreen content across subreddits, repost protection ensures you space it out appropriately.
  • Multi-user teams — Prevent team members from accidentally scheduling duplicate content that another team member already posted to the same subreddit.
